The Bike Path circles the hill where bikes, wagons, wheelbarrows and other wheel toys and balls are generally available to support children in their development of their large muscles and motor coordination skills.

In the Active Play Zone, that the children refer to as "The Park", you will see a large and complex climbing structure, which provides many challenges for the children as they grow and develop. Children are provided additional materials to encourage active motor play. An outdoor music area is adjacent to the climbing structure and includes a thunder drum, wall chime and pebble harp.

Gardens

Gardens

Children are offered several different kinds of gardens at the CDC, including a vegetable garden, flower garden, rock garden, and fairy or serenity garden. A wide variety of materials are provided to enhance their experiences, including boots for mud, watering cans and digging tools, and accessories for imaginative play in the fairy garden. The vegetable garden provides numerous tasting experiences for the children, as well as the CDC apple tree.

Sand and Water Station

Sand and Water Station

Children have access to sand water, in different forms, with a variety of accessories on a daily basis. A greater understanding of the physical properties of these materials emerge, along with creative problem-solving, through multiple experiences at the Sand and Water Station.
