How Can Counseling Help You?

A professional therapist can objectively guide you to identify and problem-solve your stressful life issues. Sharing your feelings with a caring professional can provide validation and guidance for effective coping. Counseling can help you build and strengthen relationships, including your relationship with yourself.

Are you feeling:

  • Depressed?
  • Angry?
  • Unappreciated?
  • Overwhelmed?
  • Hopeless?
  • Anxious?
  • Fearful?
  • Frustrated?
  • Isolated/abandoned?

There are a number of reasons why an individual may feel anxious, depressed, or hopeless. These issues may include:

  • Difficulties in interpersonal relationships with family or close friends
  • Cultural issues
  • Gender identity issues
  • Struggles with body image and eating disorders
  • Lack of social support and sense of isolation
  • Pessimistic feelings about the future and achieving ones goals
  • Alcohol and/or substance abuse
  • Job or financial loss

Although you may not be feeling suicidal, you may feel persistent sadness, anxiousness, or emptiness due to loss or other factors related to depression or grief. There are a number of issues that can be extremely traumatic and precipitate an emotional crisis at any time during your life. These issues include:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Physical or emotional abuse
  • Unexpected pregnancy
  • HIV diagnosis or other serious illness
  • Death of a family member or friend
